Pocket Edition – Small Works for Large Walls – NZ Art Exhibition

I am excited to have 10 small postcard size works in this exhibition at  Northart. This exhibition has 30 artists with 10 works each – A6 ( postcard ) size works that are cash and carry.

This yearly exhibition is a must visit with an awesome variety of artists and work on display.  These small works make a great Christmas gift and a great opportunity to purchase some original art.

I have themed my 10 works  ‘Kiwiana’ and my subject matter covers some typical New Zealand landscapes, places that we love to visit, hold memories of and call our own.

Would love to see you at the opening  –  Sunday 26th November at 5.00pm, or if not the exhibition runs till 21st of December.

Spring Freesias

Spring Freesias

This colourful bunch of spring flowers caught my eye, what an amazing show of colour they put on, and they are known as one of the most fragrant flowers.

Reflecting on Piha

Reflecting on Piha

One of the most iconic coastal features of the North Island of New Zealand, Reflecting on Piha depicts Lion Rock, framed by the surrounding lush flora. Lion Rock splits the beach into North and South Piha and is also known as Te Piha, which refers to the pattern of waves being separated by and breaking over the front of the rock, as on the prow of a canoe.

This is a view of the rock as it is rarely seen. “The pathway just seen leads up past low lying undergrowth like a tunnel, and as you come out you look back through a canopy of Pohutukawa trees which frame the rock with a silhouette of filigree.” The beach is windy and rugged and one of the favourite day-trip spots for the artist. Acrylic on canvas, 2015.

This is possibly a different view on a well photographed and painted subject. This glimpse of Lion Rock is through the trees from the track up the hill south end of Piha. Lion Rock was known as Te Piha, referred to the patterns of waves separating and breaking on the front of the rock, as on the prow of a canoe.
